LAS VEGAS, NV – A mother is fighting back after her 11-year-old daughter came home from school with a letter calling the student over-weight.

According to 13 Action News the letter was sent home as a result of a body mass index screening at the school.  Screenings are happening in 19 states.

Eating disorder experts believe the letters do more harm than good.   School officials say the screenings provide a valuable tool in the fight against obesity.

Some parents are upset about getting the notes from schools.
