UNION, MO (KTVI) – One person was killed and three others injured Thursday afternoon following a four-car accident near Union, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 1 p.m. on Highway 47.

A Honda SUV was traveling north when, for reasons unknown, crossed the center line and sideswiped a car heading south on Highway 47. That car spun out and landed in a ravine. The driver was transported to the hospital in moderate condition.

The Honda then hit a second car in the southbound lane head-on.

A woman, said to be around 50-years-old, was driving the Honda. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband was in the passenger seat and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the car that she hit head-on was also transported to the hospital in moderate condition.

When the women hit the second car, a tire from the Honda flew off and struck a third car. That person was not injured.

Officers said they do not believe alcohol was involved in this accident.
