SHREWSBURY, Mo. – Family members have identified the man who was killed at a Shrewsbury construction site early Tuesday morning.

Shawn Pritchett was described as a loving father of four and devoted to his long-time girlfriend, the mother of their children. The children, two boys and two girls, ranging in ages from 3 to 12.

According to the Metropolitan Sewer District, Pritchett had only been on the job for about two weeks when he was struck by a crane and killed at the Deer Creek construction site.

An investigation into what happened is underway. Loved ones have launched a GoFundMe account to help provide financial support to Pritchett’s children.

Workers have been digging a four-mile tunnel north of Interstate 44 along Carr Lane Court. The tunnel will run from Shrewsbury to Clayton for a wastewater project that will ultimately hold about 12.5 million gallons of water during heavy rain events.
