ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– The FBI is assisting St. Louis police who are investigating the crash of a camera-carrying drone into a downtown skyscraper Monday.

There’s no indication anyone has come forward to claim the pilot-less aircraft.

It crashed into the 30th floor balcony of the Metropolitan Square Building on Broadway.

The federal aviation administration does not allow most commercial use of drones and restricts hobbyists to fly them below 400 feet.

But more regulations are due next year.

The general manager of the mark twain hobby center says it’s almost impossible to trace a drone back to an owner because stores don’t normally record the serial number as part of the sale.
