FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) – The Ferguson Police Department is testing a new less lethal weapon fired from an officer’s weapon.

The police chief says the city is looking at several alternatives as a way to fight crime. One is marketed as “the alternative”.  It is a sphere that attaches to the muzzle of the officer’s gun, that when fired it will knock down a suspect without penetrating the skin

An officer would slip it on the pistol by hand before firing.

The chief adds that the department is far from making any decisions on alternative weapons.
