EUREKA, MO (KTVI) – 81 guests had to be evacuated at the Holiday Inn at Six Flags after a fire started at the Eureka hotel.

That fire started at around 2:30pm. People were calling from the highway because they saw the heavy smoke as they drove by.

Customers were evacuated from the Holiday Inn at the 4900 block of Six Flags Road. The fire started in a compressor inside of the hotel kitchen area.

Fire officials say this started as a 2nd alarm fire and is now a 3rd alarm. When crews arrived the area was fully involved and fire was spreading quickly.

Eureka Fire crews and crews from 5 surrounding departments are here working to put it out. At this point there were no injuries reported. There is no word on how many people were evacuated. Officials say the numbers were likely low because the school year just started, dropping the number of visitors.
