ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A police officer on patrol spotted a fire in a vacant home overnight Monday.  Flames shots through the roof of the building around 2:30 a.m.  as the officer drove by the vacant, four-family house on Ashland Avenue and Prairie.

The fire scorched the window sills of a neighboring home, but firefighters safely got everyone out and prevented the fire from doing more serious damage.

The cause of the fire is not known.
