ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Residents of the Syndicate Lofts building in St. Louis were stirred Tuesday night by smoke and what witnesses told reporters sounded like a loud boom.

The St. Louis Fire Department reports it was an underground electrical vault fire around 7pm at the building on the 900 block of Olive. Crews also responded to a report of an explosion at 10th & Locust. The fire was put out and there were no reports of injuries.  Although there were reports of brief power outages, there don't appear to be any current outages in the area.

A fire department spokesman said the incident was similar to a manhole fire that knocked out power to much of the city earlier this month.
