KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Kansas City police are investigating after firefighters discovered a body inside a burning Jeep.

Firefighters were called Thursday evening to put out a vehicle fire. They found the body inside when the fire was extinguished.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kari Thompson says the body was burned so badly investigators could not determine the victim’s gender.

An autopsy will determine the person’s identity and whether he or she died before the fire.
