ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - St. Louis Firefighters were out in force Saturday, installing free smoke detectors in north St. Louis.
They focused their efforts in the same neighborhood, where a 14-month-old boy died earlier this week, when fire swept through his family's home.

Over 500 children in the U.S. died in house fires in 2012, and roughly 80 percent of those homes did not have working smoke detectors.
