ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- St. Louis firefighters were busy Friday morning putting out a fire in an apartment building in the Central West End. There was heavy fire on the first floor of a four story building in the 700 block of Walton.

Once fire crews determined no residents were inside, they did a sweep for any pets and were able to rescue six cats and kittens from the building.

Photographer Bill Greenblatt shared a photo from the scene showing St. Louis firefighter Paul Clark holding a kitten as EMS personnel administer oxygen using a cat mask. Firefighter Addington Stewart Jr. is in the background holding another cat waiting for oxygen.
