Flash Floods Hit Roads in Monroe County

MONROE, IL ( KTVI) - For the second night in a row some drivers battled a blinding rain.'I had the defogger going and the windshield wipers on high,' said one drive.  'I couldn`t see a thing.'Several roads were covered by water from several inches of rain pouring down in a short amount of time.

The rushing water also sent some loose tree limbs along for the ride.Some drivers ignored the road closed signs and gave it a try in Vallmeyer Rd. near Route 3.The road was closed for about an hour before the water went back down and a city back hoe scrapped mud off the pavement. Other areas where flash flooding caused problems included Waterloo, Affton and Mehlville.
