ST. LOUIS - Hundreds of mothers and their best buddies gathered Saturday morning in Forest Park for the Annual Mother's Day 5k and 1 mile run/walk.

Organizers say the Annual Mother’s Day Run is not just a race, but a way of life and they are hoping to inspire women of all walks of life to join in on the journey toward health and wellness.

An estimated 900 people of all ages participated.

“It is where I learned to compete, so it was really nice to get out here and push her like she pushed me all those years,” said Heather Kohlmiller

“She is a tough act to follow, but she motivated me and she made me realized I still have it,” said Donna Whitaker.

Organizers say the aim is to deliver a fun, healthy, and inspirational event  that helps bring the community  together.

Brody Whalen was the first person to cross the finish line. He says the day is really about having fun with his mom

“I’m just thankful. I’m thankful for my mom and all that she does. She signed me up for race and I just love doing them with her.”
