CLAYTON, MO (AP) – A former suburban St. Louis teacher has been sentenced to three years in prison for sexually assaulting two minors in separate incidents two decades apart.

Prosecutors say 68-year-old Don Ingerson turned himself in to St. Louis County authorities two years ago, apparently under the mistaken impression that the statute of limitations had expired on charges involving three minors.  That proved to be correct in one case.

But the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Ingerson pleaded guilty in February of rape involving a victim under age 16 that occurred from 1974 to 1976; and for sodomy for a victim under age 17, in 1995 and 1996.  He was sentenced Monday.

Ingerson taught at several St. Louis area schools before moving to Ely, Minnesota.
