ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– The people in charge of the $100 million Ballpark Village said the place is going to be special.  Jim Watry is the venue’s chief operating officer, “There’s nothing like it in the region right now.”

Chase Martin works for the developer, The Cordish Companies.  Martin said they’ll have no problem opening on time. “We are on schedule. We are excited opening spring of next year. We’ll have a rolling opening end of March early April next year.”

Ballpark Village is made up of night clubs and restaurants.  Cardinal Nation takes up four floors. Watry says the one area that seems to grab everyone’s attention is the outdoor seating area that looks over Busch Stadium, “Every new development we tailor make to the market, so everything from architecture to how we lay it out, the tenants we signed; everything is based on the local fabric.”

Cardinal Nation also includes a restaurant and a hall of fame museum.

Ballpark Village is expected to attract not only sports fans, but music fans. Each year there will be 200 concerts and festivals and a huge 36-foot cutting-edge flat screen will be the focus point for watch parties – everything from hockey playoffs to the Academy Awards.

Those big events will be held in the live area. It can hold thousands of folks for the concerts and the roof above will open to let the fresh air in and keep the bad weather out.  Martin explains, “The retractable roof I think is a really cool aspect of this project, something people will notice when they visit for the first time.”
