ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will be in St. Louis Saturday to attend the funeral of Phyllis Schlafly. A visitation is being held Friday night at an Olivette funeral home. Phyllis Schlafly died earlier this week at the age of 92.

The conservative activist first captured the heart of Republicans she when published a book called, "A Choice Not an Echo." One of 27 books she authored.

The Alton woman was the woman credited with leading the charge against the equal rights amendment. She graduated from college at the age of 19 and then went on to get a masters and a law degree.

Missouri state Republican party chairman John Hancock says on a personal level she was a kind person.

"The great thing about Phyllis Schlafly, whether you agreed with her or disagreed with her; she was a woman of great graciousness. She never engaged in personal attacks on her enemies or opponents. She presented the facts as she researched them. She did it in a winsome way, and she was a very gracious," said John Hancock.

Donald Trump will attend her funeral at the New Cathedral Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

Phyllis Schlafly is survived by six children, 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
