ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Russ Faria and his supporters say that even hours after the verdict, it`s still sinking in that he`s free. The celebration comes after a four year wait. Faria says the final few minutes leading up the verdict felt like an eternity.
“You felt like you could feel your heart pounding out of your chest. It felt like you had all this weight sitting on you and it just felt like the clock was moving so slow.” said cousin Mary Anderson.
“You know I could feel my heart just pounding in my chest, and up in my throat. I didn`t know for sure until he actually delivered the verdict, you know. It was such a relief you know it was like the weight of the world being taken of off your shoulders.” said Russ Faria.
The emotion outside the courtroom spilled over into the evening.
Faria hopes the investigation into his wife`s murder will continue and predicts he will be taking some type of legal action in response to the way he was prosecuted. He also hopes to move to Arizona and start a business with a friend.
