KAMPSVILLE, IL – The curtain has finally fallen on the Goldenrod Showboat.
Sometime overnight Friday, the century old boat caught fire and burned down to its hull.
The former St. Louis Riverfront attraction has been moored in the Illinois River near Kampsville for the past few years.
Preservationists had hoped to restore the riverboat.
The fire remains under investigation.
