VALLEY PARK, MO (KTVI) – The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District reports that the Grand Glaize Wastewater Treatment Plant is now operational. Partial water treatment should be start by the end of this week.

The water treatment plant was flooded after a sandbag levee was breached on Thursday.

Another treatment plant was flooded on Monday December, 28th. The Fenton Water Treatment plant was flooded by 6 feet of water. MSD does not have a timeframe to get the Fenton plant operational because of the amount of flooding.

MSD Executive Director Brian Hoelscher says in a statement, “Our treatment plants will take a significant amount of time to recover from this historic flood event. The Meramec River will take significant time to recover, as well. We are doing our part by proactively bringing our assets back online as quickly as we can.”

Residents are asked to call (314) 768-6260 if they have experienced a basement backup or observe a sewer overflow.
