Gutzler family also victims of Florida real estate scam


A family of four from Nashville, Illinois were killed when their Piper PA-34 reported engine trouble and crashed in Eddyville, Kentucky on January 2, 2015. Killed in the crash were Marty Gutzler (49) pictured here with wife Kimberly Gutzler (45) their daughter, Piper Gutzler (9) and cousin, Sierra Wilder (14). Another daughter, age 7, reportedly walked nearly a mile to a home to report that she was involved with the crash. She has been released from the hospital. ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – According to the Flordia Keys Key-Noter newspaper the Gutzlers may have been the victims of a real estate scam in Florida.

The paper reports the family booked a vacation properties in Key West through Vacation Homes LLC when they arrived they were told the homes they rented are not vacation rentals.

Police say this has happened numerous times and the resident has been forced to turn away several parties who had been scammed.

The Gutzer family recently died in a plane crash on the way home from Key West Florida.  Their 7-year-old daughter walked away from the crash.
