WELLSTON, MO (KTVI) – Did you hear helicopters Wednesday and Thursday night? We got calls, emails and Facebook messages about numerous helicopters flying overnight.

The St. Louis County Police Department provided support for a routine military training exercise in and around the St. Louis County Municipal Police Academy, located at 1266 Sutter Ave, on Wednesday, April 24 and Thursday, April 25, 2013.

The training involved helicopters. People living in and around the St. Louis region could have heard more noise as and helicopters made many landings and take offs during training.

The training was coordinated with local authorities and the owners of the training sites. The training sites were carefully selected to try to reduce the impact on people in the area.
