ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Despite the blazing heat this week, the City of St. Louis has yet to have a heat death this summer.

St. Louis County has had two heat deaths this summer.

Since June, there have been 22 cases of heat-related illness reported by hospitals in the City of St. Louis, including seven since this latest stretch of hot weather began on Monday.

"They range from children at camps and a toddler at a swimming pool to and older person who was out working in his yard," said Jeanine Arrighi, Health Services Manager for the St. Louis Health Department.

On Thursday, workers from the City of St. Louis went door to door checking on more than 300 people known to be vulnerable in extreme weather. The city also offers a list of cooling centers across the city on its website.
