ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – St. Louis 6th district officers Nolan and Brummett say they’re doing just fine after rescuing a man from the back porch this house during a fire at the 4100 block of Penrose last week. They didn’t have any protective gear on at the time but made the rescue because time was of the essence and they thought children were trapped. 8 people were inside at the time. But one man needed help to get out. The officers were inside the home for less than 2 minutes. The home was with filled with heat and flames rolling on the ceilings and walls.

Both officers are set to get check-ups on Thursday. Until then they’re on limited duty. Officer Nolan has 3rd degree burns to both of his hands arms. Investigators say the fire was started from a small child using a lighter.
