ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- One man is dead after a horrifying hit and run in north St. Louis. Police are still trying to track down the driver of the car involved. Authorities do not have any details on the car who hit the man. Witnesses say the car was dark in color. Family members have identified the victim as 42-year-old Elijah Brooks. The father of five ran his own landscaping business. They say he was simply walking home when he was hit and killed.

Police rushed to the scene on Goodfellow and Natural Bridge shortly after 8p.m. Tuesday night.  Investigators say Brooks had just picked up food from a Chinese restaurant near that intersection. The family says Brooks only lived about five minutes away.

Witnesses who were on the scene say Brooks was in the crosswalk crossing Natural Bridge eastbound at Goodfellow when a car speeding south on Goodfellow ran a red light and hit him. He was reportedly dragged about 50 yards before the suspect car fled the scene.

Police say Brooks was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. They do not have any suspects at this time.

There are red light cameras at that intersection so there could potentially be video of the incident.

This hit and run comes just two days after a man was hit struck by a car and killed in another hit run. That incident happened only a few miles away from this latest scene on Natural Bridge at Spring.

Call police if you have information on either of these cases.
