ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Olivette Police are searching for three of the four suspects in a home invasion there Monday morning.  A woman in her forties and her elderly mother were attacked as they left the younger woman’s home off of Old Bonhomme.

“They were backing out, the vehicle was backing out,” Olivette Sgt. Jeff Wolf said.  “(The suspects) surrounded the vehicle and got them out of the vehicle and took them inside.”

As they forced the women in, the younger victim was hit over the head with a pistol.  Police say her injuries didn’t merit a trip to the hospital.

Once inside, officers say the two victims kept their cool.

“Obviously for them a very scary, traumatic incident, however, from our point of view they acted accordingly.  They didn’t do anything to upset the suspects in any nature.   They cooperated with what the demands of the suspects were.  And as I said once inside the suspects were asking for money and jewelry and valuables, but one of the victims was able to escape.”

That was the elderly woman.  Wolf says she saw her chance and ran for it, racing into the street, screaming for help.

A neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, says she heard the screams and called 9-1-1.  She then saw the suspects run from the home.   Three left in a car while a fourth ran on foot.  That man went more than a mile, cutting through yards and neighborhoods.  He was finally caught by police on Olive near Price.

Police say they don’t believe the suspects had any relationship with the victims.  At this point it appears to have been a random attack.

That makes it all the more uncomfortable for neighbors in this area, where many of the homes run well above $700 thousand.

“I’ve been living here for 30-some years,” neighbor Shu Cheuk said. “And not too many of these things happen.”

Nearby Old Bonhomme Elementary was placed on a precautionary lock-down.  Once one suspect was captured, the school lock-down was lifted.
