ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Hot spot policing returns to the City of St. Louis today in several north side neighborhoods. Those areas include one where there was a shooting late Sunday night. The department will deploy more officers in the Walnut Park east and Walnut Park west neighborhoods in an effort to reduce crime. Residents in those neighborhoods can expect to see increased police presence. Officers will patrol both in uniform and plain clothes as well as marked and unmarked cars. Roll call will be held Monday morning at 10a.m. at the north patrol headquarters on Union Avenue.
Mayor Francis Slay and senior commanders will be in attendance for the briefing.
During past hot spot deployments, Chief Sam Dotson has encouraged officers to get out of their cars to build relationships with residents.
