How one Missouri farm gets turkeys from farm-to-table

CALIFORNIA, MO (KTVI) – With Thanksgiving just a week away, it’s crunch time to buy the bird!

A farm in central Missouri is busy getting the turkeys from the farm to your table.

Matt Tiefenbrun, a Webster Groves High School grad, and his wife Eleanor started Buttonwood Farm in 2010. Six years later, they have a booming farm of eggs, chickens, and turkeys- 2,200 turkeys this year in what he describes as the best flock yet. Buttonwood Farm prides itself on free-range, hormone, and antibiotic-free turkeys.

Unlike many turkeys sold at grocery stores, birds from Buttonwood Farm have not spent months sitting in freezers leading up to the holidays. In fact, turkey processing began Wednesday and will be followed by countless deliveries in and around St. Louis in the coming days.
