ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The Humane Society of Missouri is breaking ground on Wednesday on a new “Best Buddy” pet center. Trooper, the dog who survived being dragged behind a truck, is also taking part in the ceremony.

The new facility at Page Avenue and Schuetz road in Maryland Heights will include a full-service animal shelter and a veterinary medical center.

The Humane Society chose the site because of its easy access to the 100,000 people who pass that intersection every day.
