NORMANDY, MO (KTVI)-Hundreds of job seekers came to UMSL Friday hoping to better their future. The university put on its Spring Internship & Job Fair 2013. More than 100 companies, ranging from Boeing to Target, were there looking for people to fill their vacancies.

More than 500 potential employees were expected to come out. The event was geared toward UMSL students and alumni but was open to anyone else for a small fee.

The director of UMSL’s career services, Teresa Balestreri, says more companies are coming out looking to hire workers but it is still a challenging job market.

“It is tough but the market is getting better. We are seeing a lot more activity in our office. We are seeing a lot more success for our students. Rhones aren’t ringing off the hook but progress is being made,” said Balestreri.

Along with looking for work, job seekers could also get head shots taken for social media sites like LinkedIn.

UMSL will hold another major job fair in the fall.
