ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Interstate 270 was closed  in both directions Friday afternoon after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

The accident occurred around 3:10 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-270, just east of Highway 367 (Lewis and Clark Boulevard).

A medical helicopter transported the pedestrian to the hospital, where they remain in serious condition. It’s not clear why the person was on the highway.

The westbound lanes were reopened by 4:15 p.m.
