ST. LOUIS, Mo. _Drivers who use the Martin Luther King bridge going from Missouri into Illinois could face some traffic challenges this morning. Until noon, IDOT is slated to close the right eastbound lane on the MLK bridge. The left eastbound lane as well as the one westbound lane on the bridge are remaining open during the closure.

The lane shutdown started about 9a.m. this morning.

IDOT says the closure is needed for bridge inspections. There were also closures yesterday on the Chain of Rocks and Clark bridges for inspections as well.

IDOT says it`s trying to do the lane closures during non-peak traffic times. Nonetheless, IDOT still expects some delays during today`s shutdown.

Officials are asking drivers to consider using an alternate route during the period when the right eastbound lane on the MLK bridge is closed.
