COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. (AP) _ The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking public comments on its plan to add a “managed traffic lane” to Interstate 55 from Bolingbrook to Chicago.
Officials have scheduled a public meeting from Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Countryside Conference Center.
The public may comment on various alternatives for the work from Interest 355 _ also known as the Veterans Memorial Tollway _ to Interstate 90/94, the Dan Ryan Expressway.
The plan is to add a managed lane facility within the existing median of I-55, also called the Stevenson Expressway.
Officials say the lane would improve mobility, travel times and efficiency.
Exhibits will be on display and there will be audio-visual presentations.
Written comments may also be submitted at the meeting or until Dec. 23.
