(KTVI) – IDOT crews have been out since Tuesday night battling the storm. That fight is continuing Wednesday.

An IDOT spokesperson tells us they had about 160 trucks out overnight and then increased that to about 195 during the prime morning hours Wednesday.

They are scaling back a bit, but are still hard at work.

IDOT tells us ramps and open, rural areas are still proving challenging for plows.

Workers are trying to get as much snow as possible plowed off the roads before the frigid cold temperatures set in and everything freezes up.

Despite the snow, Illinois State Police say there have not been a whole lot of crashes.

They say the busiest time was between about 5:45am-7:00am Wednesday. They had 12 calls for service including six crashes. There were also several cars that slid off roads.

Fortunately, nobody was seriously hurt.
