Maryland Heights city council members all agreed to move forward with the project. The next step is finding a developer.
The land they're looking at is 1,800 acres along the Missouri River next to Creve Coeur Lake Park and Maryland Heights Expressway.
Alan Borenstein is one interested developer. Does that name sound familiar? He's Stan Kroenke's attorney and business partner, who helped the Rams move to Los Angeles.
According our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Borenstein pitched his idea to develop a retail, office, entertainment, and sports district to an economic committee last month. Turns out, Borenstein owns much of the land. He said he'd need taxpayer money to build it.
And that's a big ask.
Maryland Heights city leaders said they’re looking at any submitted development plans and not just Borenstein’s.
