Lewis and Clark keel boats headed to Canada for mini-series production

ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) – A piece of St. Louis history will play a role in an upcoming HBO miniseries on Lewis and Clark.

The Discovery Expedition boat fleet from St. Charles will be featured prominently in the series.

The program will star Casey Affleck as Meriwether Lewis and Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts as William Clark.

The six-hour miniseries is being produced by Tom Hanks, Edward Norton, and Brad Pitt.

The miniseries will follow the explorer’s journey on their mission to the pacific.

The Discovery Expeditions of St. Charles fleet of boats were reconstructed from Clark's renderings and now the keel boats are on their journey to Canada. The journey will take 3 days to reach the production set outside of Calgary, Canada.

Production will begin this summer in Canada and finish up in Georgia.
