GRAFTON, IL (KTVI) – It’s not for the faint of heart. It is also not on dryland for more than a year. Meet the loopers or rather the Watts from Virgina. The Watts are one of five sets of loopers stopping off at the Grafton harbor on Thursday afternoon.
St. Louis resident Susan Cutler was still celebrating an eleven month long journey just completed.
“It is between 6,000-7,000 miles depending on how many side trips the person wants to take. We opted to do this pretty much non-stop,” said Susan Cutler.
“So you go onto the Mississippi river down to the Gulf of Mexico, around Key West up the intercostal waterways through the Great Lakes where you can start wherever you want and stop wherever you want,” said Grafton Harbor owner Jan Desherlia.
This slow moving marathon over waterways will offer these boaters a different sunrise and sunset in a new location daily. Grand vistas while sharing 40 feet of space with a partner or pets.
Mr. and Mrs. Watts will continue meandering on the Mississippi and the Illinois and Ohio and the Tennessee river and so on and so forth and set sail.
