DES PERES, Mo. (AP) – A 53-year-old maintenance worker has been killed in an industrial accident at a suburban St. Louis mall.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the man died Thursday while parking a four-wheel hydraulic basket lift at the West County Center shopping mall in Des Peres. The man’s name wasn’t immediately released.

Des Peres Police Lt. Ernie Brockman says the man somehow became pinned between the rail of the basket, where he was operating the machine, and a low steel girder overhang.

Brockman said a construction worker found the man in the fourth floor of a garage and immediately called 911. The man was dead at the scene.
