LEADINGTON, Mo. (AP) – A southeast Missouri man is in custody after allegedly threatening three bicyclists with a gun. It turned out the bicyclists were off-duty police officers.
The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Missouri reports that three men were riding bikes Sunday in Leadington when an aggressive dog approached.
Police Chief Dustin McKinney says a man came out of a nearby home armed with a handgun. He allegedly pointed the gun at one of the bicyclists and threatened to kill him, then threatened to assault a second bicyclist who tried to intervene.
That’s when the third bicyclist told the resident that all three men were off-duty police officers. The man with the gun returned home. He was arrested a short time later.
Formal charges have not been filed.
