BRANSON, Mo. (AP) _ A 55-year-old man has been charged with killing a 6-year-old girl whose body was found in a southwest Missouri hotel room after she was reported missing.

Branson police say 55-year-old John P. Roberts was charged Sunday with first-degree murder in the death of Jasmine Miller. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Police said in a news release that officers were dispatched Saturday night to the Windsor Inn to look for a missing girl. Officers found Jasmine’s body while searching the motel and the surrounding area.
