FERGUSON, MO (KTVI)- Police are investigating an overnight shooting along a main thoroughfare at the Ferguson Dellwood border.

One man is hospitalized after a car pulled up next to the one that he was riding in and someone inside that car opened fire. He was shot several times. This all unfolded about 1 a.m.

A St. Louis County police spokesperson says a county police officer was on West Florissant between Somerset Terrace Dr. and Keelen when she saw a man get pushed out of a moving car. Keelen is a block down West Florissant from Somerset Terrace. When the officer stopped to help the man she noticed the 25 years old- appeared to have been shot multiple times. He was rushed to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Investigators say it appears that the man who was shot was a passenger in a car when another car pulled up next to the vehicle and someone inside that second car opened fire.

Authorities say the victim was hit multiple times then pushed from the vehicle.

St. Louis County police believe the shooting happened on West Florissant in Ferguson. There were some 40-50 shell casing markers from police at the scene earlier this morning.

At this point, authorities don`t have details on the car where the shots came from nor do they know much about the car that the victim was in.

The is an ongoing investigation.
