ST. LOUIS, Mo. – There have been at least five shootings along I-70 in recent months. The most recent one happened last night.
A teen was shot while driving on eastbound I-70 near Bircher Boulevard at around 8:45 pm on Tuesday. The 17-year-old victim tells police that he was driving and then suddenly heard gunshots and felt pain. He was hit in the hand, shoulder, and thigh.
Police said he was conscious and breathing when taken to the hospital. He is in critical condition.
The investigation into this shooting is ongoing. Police have not released any information about suspects in this shooting.
A woman was shot and killed on the interstate last week. The shooting happened in the westbound lanes of I-70 near Madison in Old North St. Louis.
The investigation revealed someone fired multiple shots into the victim’s vehicle before fleeing. The woman died on the scene. So far, police have not identified the victim or a motive. No suspects are in custody.
In December three people were injured when someone opened fire on their car on the approach to downtown St. Louis. Two of the victims were hit by gunfire.
