(FOX NEWS) – The Big Mac and Chicken McNugget are about to get some company on the menu at McDonalds. The world’s biggest fast-food chain is planning a limited-time roll-out of chicken wings starting on September 9th. The nationwide roll-out will be complete by September 24th.
The “Mighty Wings” as they’ll be called, will be bone-in wings, breaded and seasoned with cayenne and chili pepper.
The wings will be sold in packs of three, five and ten, starting at $2.99. Customers can choose from nine sauces, ranging from creamy ranch to chipotle barbecue.
Industry analysts say the addition of chicken wings will make McDonalds a serious competitor to KFC, Popeyes, and other chicken based fast food chains.
Some estimates show wings ranking among the fastest-growing category for food-on-the-run restaurants. Sales of wings topped $8 billion dollars in 2012.
“Mighty Wings” will be sold through November.
