ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The reward to solve a Mardis Gras murder is up to $30,000 dollars. On Wednesday night’s Metro’s Most Wanted, a family’s plea to put their peace loving son’s killer behind bars.

Eve Cascella is still searching for answers while police search for her son’s killer.

“Vinnie was a delight from time he was born”

24 year-old Vincent Cascella was gunned down the morning of February 15th, Mardis Gras weekend.  His body was found in his car, a Silver Pontiac Grand AM in the 4000 block of McRee at 3:15 am.  The car was on fire and Cascella’s body filled with bullets.  Such a violent crime doesn’t make sense for such a peaceful person.

“He loved life,” said his mother Eve.  “He was a gentle which makes this whole horrible thing that happened to him so astonishing really because he was such a gentle person and wouldn’t hurt anyone.”

Vinnie was last seen alive in the area of Iowa and Cherokee in the Benton Park West neighborhood.  His car had unique posters and stickers on it.  SLMPD Homicide Commander John Paul Green says it could have been a crime of opportunity or a botched robbery.

“You just never know what set people off or what the circumstances are until we talk to the person that did it.”

A tree now stands in Vinnie’s honor at Forest Park; a lone love note hangs from his grieving mother.

“You are well loved and horribly missed.  Love Mom”

Vinnie’s older brother Nick is also having trouble wrapping his head around the case.

“It still hasn’t completely hit home yet.  I think that’s probably going to take some time.”

Time and hopefully his brother’s cold case, wrapped up.

“There’s never been a need for revenge on the people that did this to Vinnie.  For the most part, I don’t want this to happen to another family.  This person is still out there and could inflict this type of pain on another family is the main motivation to finding these people”
