MASCOUTAH, Ill. (AP) – A struggling airport in southwestern Illinois will soon be getting a new air service.
St. Clair County and MidAmerica St. Louis Airport officials plan to announce details during a news conference Tuesday at the airport near Mascoutah , just east of St. Louis.
It isn’t immediately clear whether the service will involve passengers or cargo.
MidAmerica has struggled since opening in 1998, and it lost its last passenger service a decade later.
Since then, the county largely has focused on attracting cargo business to the money-losing airport.
