ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Ten states across the Midwest, including Missouri and Illinois, took part in an annual earthquake drill on Thursday.

Nearly 400,000 people in Missouri and more than 500,000 in Illinois took a few seconds to practice what to do if the big one hits.

Getting under a sturdy desk or table is considered the best way to protect yourself in a quake.
