ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - An endangered child alert from north St. Louis County ended peacefully when St. Louis Metropolitan police took the father of the child into custody.

The alert was issued because police said Benson Davis knocked the hinges off the door of a home on Glen Gary Road in north St. Louis County, assaulted the mother of his child and then took 6-month-old Khloe Davis.

A family member said Lacandice Frazier, the child’s mother, had just ended a relationship with Benson Davis.

One witness said Davis pounded the door Sunday morning around 7am repeatedly before knocking the door off the hinges.

Frazier hoped Sunday night will end the dispute.  She returned home with her child around 8pm.

“Hopefully I don’t have to go through this again,” she said.

Frazier described the reunion with her daughter at the St. Louis Metropolitan police station in south St. Louis.

“She was jumping for joy she was so happy to see me,” said Frazier.  “I just called her name so she seen me she was very excited.”

Police said Benson Davis could face charges.  They say he knocked down a door and assaulted the Frazier.
