ST. LOUIS – A man died during a house fire in south St. Louis Tuesday morning.
The St. Louis Fire Department said the two-story frame dwelling located in the 400 block of Bates had heavy fire on the first floor. They were called to put out the fire at about 8:00 a.m.
The fire spread to the second floor and then the attic before firefighters were able to get it under control. Firefighters say they found the body of a man inside the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson team have been called to check it out.
