Parson signs law enforcement reform package including ban on chokeholds

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Governor Mike Parson is set to sign a sweeping package of law enforcement reforms including a ban on chokeholds.

The ban was initiated by University City State Senator Brian Williams after George Floyd’s murder.

The new law also requires law enforcement to keep a database of incidents involving officers using serious or deadly force.
