Pay raises approved for St. Louis County corrections officers

Missouri

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The St. Louis County Council fast-tracked raises for nearly 300 corrections officers.

The council voted unanimously to suspend a two-week approval process. The Civil Service Commission could meet Wednesday to formalize those raises.

Jail workers have warned officials about safety and staffing problems.

The raises will come out of $5.1 million in federal COVID-19 recovery funds.

St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page signed Bill 340 which will provide a $3 per hour pay increase.
