MEHLVILLE, Mo. — A St. Louis County police vehicle struck another car at an intersection in Mehlville Wednesday evening, authorities said.

The crash happened around 4:55 p.m. at Lemay Ferry Road and Mehl Avenue. An officer with the South County Precinct was traveling southbound on Lemay Ferry and entered the intersection, striking the other vehicle.

The officer had minor injuries, while the other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to the hospital.

FOX 2’s Bommarito Automotive Group SkyFOX flew over the crash scene and captured footage of the damaged vehicles. A section of Lemay Ferry was closed for several hours as crews investigated.

“It looked like it was closed for a while, and it was a lot of traffic, which probably made the highway a little busier,” said driver Anna Emery. “So I’m sure some people were delayed quite a bit.”

Lemay Ferry has since reopened. Police have not released any further details about the crash.
